Why MOT dates still get missed
The free government MOT reminder service sends a text or email for one vehicle at a time, to whoever signed up. That works for a family car. It doesn't work for a fleet, where half the vans belong to owner drivers, vans come and go every month, and the person who needs to know is in the office.
So most fleets keep a spreadsheet of MOT dates. It's accurate on the day someone types it in and slowly wrong after that: a van is replaced, a test is taken early and the date moves, a new subcontractor joins and nobody adds their van.
